General Dentistry Services

We pride ourselves on having an experienced team of dentists, with over 80 years’ experience between them! They work around the belief that prevention is better than cure. As a result, they will instruct, advise, and guide patients of all ages on the best way to protect their teeth and how to maintain good oral health.

We offer an extensive range of treatments including fillings, crowns, bridges, dentures, extractions, and whitening.

Please see our Specialist Dentistry section for more information on treatments including implants, root canal treatment and orthodontics.

Our general practitioners are your first line of defence in taking care of your teeth. Our dentists determine what primary dental care is needed for patients of all ages. They can treat you and your family and are responsible for the diagnosis, treatment, and your overall dental care.

Dentists also play a critical role in oral cancer detection. Soft tissues will be checked at each examination appointment. The first and most important role is to offer preventive services, particularly to smokers and to patients who drink alcohol to excess. All patients with suspicious lesions will be referred for urgent attention to the hospital.

Dental Hygienist

The main focus is on the health of patients’ gums and how to prevent oral diseases such as gingivitis (gum disease). Our hygienists will professionally clean your teeth, called ‘scaling’, to remove the hard deposits (calculus) that can form. Thy will also polish the teeth using a paste.

A crucial part of the oral hygiene advice they offer is showing people the best way to keep their teeth free of plaque by demonstrating effective brushing techniques and interdental cleaning. They also give oral health advice on diet and how to prevent decay.

Another treatment they can offer is stain removal (also known as AirFlow) on teeth that can build up over time from smoking, drinking red wine, tea, coffee etc. Please ask for more information.

When you go to visit our dental hygienist, you will be given an initial gum score and assessment on the condition of your gums. Over the course of your treatment, each time you visit, these scores will be reassessed. You will then be able to see if your dental hygiene and oral healthcare routine is effective and improving over time.

Child Dental Care

At Spring Hill we believe it is imperative to see children from an early age to allow a positive lifelong relationship with dentistry

We welcome children of any age to come and visit our dentists even if it’s just to say hello and sit in the dental chair! The introduction to their dentist and the surgery is very important in order to make them feel as comfortable as possible when their appointments come around.

We would usually recommend 6 monthly dental examinations for children, this will help to ensure that their teeth remain healthy and cavity free! It is very achievable for children to not need any fillings with good maintenance at home and keeping regular visits up to the dentist. However, if a little cavity is spotted and needs a filling then it can be easily done (pain free!) using a tooth coloured filling material.

Fluoride application at each examination is highly recommended for children. It is a free treatment and involves a fruity flavoured gel being applied with the aim of preventing cavities and strengthening their teeth.

As we all know, a healthy active lifestyle for children is so important. We can offer mouth guards for sports and activities to help avoid any accidents! These can be made in a range of different colours and patterns.

Also, if you have any questions about braces then our Orthodontists will be more than happy to see your child for a consultation. Please take a look at our Orthodontics page for some more information.
