Our Team

Peter is originally from the South West, having gone to school in Cornwall. He qualified in 1997 at Guys Hospital Dental School in London. He went on to obtain his Master of Restorative Dentistry in Endodontology (MRD) from the Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh. He is the only mono Specialist Endodontist with these qualifications working in Devon and Cornwall. Peter is also a postgraduate tutor on the Endodontology Postgraduate programme at Kings College London and holds various lectures at the Peninsula Dental School and conferences. He currently combines his time working the majority of the working week here at Spring Hill with holding weekly clinics at River Practice in Truro.

I qualified in dentistry at Bristol University in 1999 and completed my Fellowship in Restorative Dentistry in 2006 (Royal College Surgeons, Edinburgh). I provide management of patients with head and neck cancer and developmental disorders. My specialist interests include multidisciplinary care of patients with orthodontic-restorative needs and the rehabilitation of cancer patients with dental implants. I am a Consultant in Restorative Dentistry at Musgrove Park Hospital in Taunton as well as working in private practice. I have a passion for education. I am an Associate Professor in Clinical Education in Plymouth University and responsible for the implant dentistry modules for the postgraduate cert/diploma/masters in Restorative Dentistry and Periodontology. I am the Training Program Director for Restorative Dentistry in the Southwest and lead for National recruitment both of which allow me to share my enthusiasm for my specialty. I have been appointed the Local Dental Network chair for the Southwest NHSE/I and through this leadership role facilitate to develop access, prevention and workforce across the region to help provide dental services to all patients and improve quality of care.

Mr. Graham Merrick has over 25 years experience in Facial and Oral Surgery. He has worked locally in Somerset and Devon for the past 15 years as a Consultant Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon, both as a specialist consultant at Musgrove Park Hospital in Taunton and Nuffield Health Taunton. He is dual qualified having studied both Medicine (1997) and Dentistry (1990) at Sheffield University. Mr Merrick is fully registered with the General Medical Council and is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England. After qualifying in medicine, he undertook 3 years of basic surgical training, before carrying out a further 5 years of specialist training in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (the surgery of the face, mouth and jaws). His speciality training focused on surgery of the head and neck, facial reconstruction and surgical management of skin cancers of the head and neck. In addition to his specialty training, he also undertook specialist fellowships in Cosmetic Facial Surgery in the United States and a Head and Neck Cancer surgery fellowship in Glasgow. In his private practice, Graham specialises in the surgical management of skin and dental conditions of the head, neck and face. Jamie qualified as a dentist in 1995 from Glasgow University and has been a specialist orthodontist since 2007. He works in Specialist Practice and as a Consultant Orthodontist. Jamie is experienced in treating children and adults with malocclusions of all severities, working closely with other dental and surgical colleagues in the management of the most complex cases. Jamie provides treatment with conventional fixed braces or aligners to best suit the patients' needs. Communication, assessment, diagnosis and planning are the bedrock for Jamie's approach to your orthodontic needs. Jamie achieved a distinction in his Masters, was in the Army, lectures at postgraduate level and has taught undergrads and postgrads. When not working Jamie loves cycling, golf, fishing and walking.

Jeremy graduated in 1989, becoming a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons in 1993 and completing orthodontic specialist training (including study in the U.S.A) in 1997. He has been an invited speaker in the UK and overseas, published articles in international dental journals, and won several major national awards. Jeremy has a special interest in adult orthodontics and multi-disciplinary cases. Having established River Practice in Truro in 2008, Jeremy now divides his time between Truro in Cornwall and Better Smiles based in Spring Hill Specialist Dental Centre, Tavistock, Devon.

Alexia qualified from The Royal London Hospital Dental School in 1996 and has worked in General Practice for 19 years. She has also spent 4 years in Glasgow & Fife Hospitals working under Consultants in Periodontology, Oral Surgery and Oral medicine. Alexia has recently completed a yearlong postgraduate course in Restorative Dentistry in Manchester with Tipton postgraduate training. Alexia enjoys all aspects of General Practice dentistry but particularly working with young children and nervous patients. We believe very much in early dental visits for children to allow preventative management, acclimatisation and beginning a positive lifelong relationship with dentistry. When not at work Alexia loves to be with her family, on the moors or the sea!

Linda qualified at Birmingham Dental School in 1980 and worked in general practice in Warwickshire for ten years before moving to the South West.

In 2003 Linda obtained the Diploma in Postgraduate Dental Studies from Bristol University Dental School.

Throughout practice Linda has had a special interest in prosthodontics and has undertaken extensive postgraduate training in this field. Linda enjoys the challenge of managing the heavily restored dentition and the provision of high quality removable denture prosthetics. She enjoys this rewarding branch of dentistry, working to restore self-esteem, comfort and function!

Linda has been privileged to enjoy the mentorship of Dr John Besford, a pioneer in the personalised denture approach. She also holds a post as Clinical Supervisor at Plymouth University Peninsula School of Dentistry.

Matthew qualified in 2013 from the Peninsula College of Medicine and Dentistry. Further to joining us here at Spring Hill, Matthew has been appointed as a Clinical Supervisor at the Peninsula to trainee dentists. He has gained considerable experience working on complex dental cases at Torbay Hospital. Matthew can offer a wide range of treatments in all areas of general, restorative and cosmetic dentistry.

Natasha is one of our Dental Hygienists, she has been with Spring Hill for several years. Having qualified in 2003 at Bristol University she is highly experienced and her kind and caring nature makes her very popular among patients and colleagues!
