Dental Implants –  Step by Step

Step 1

Consultation

Getting started is very simple, we first require a consultation to assess your dental situation and explain all options available to you in detail, so that you can make an informed decision. The planning stage of implant treatment is vital and if you require a CBCT scan, this can be done on the day, included in the consultation fee of £150.

Step 2

Plan

You will receive a full treatment plan either on the day of your consultation, or for more complex cases, the following day. This will outline all options available to you alongside costs and the breakdown of those per appointment.
If you have any questions upon receiving your treatment plan, one of the team will be more than happy to talk through it with you either by telephone or in person.

Step 3

Booking appointments

Starting treatment

The appointment stages will be explained in full and if you wish to go ahead, all appointments can be booked in advance.

There are periods of healing between stages, if you require extraction of teeth, it is usually possible to place a dental implant 8-12 weeks after this, depending on your bone level and healing. At this stage, it will become clear whether a bone graft is required. This will either be done before or on the day of your implant surgery.

Once the implant has been placed, it takes around 6-8 weeks for the implant to integrate into the bone, likely longer if you have a bone graft. During this period the implant will be protected with a healing cap. This will allow for the next stage of treatment whether that be a crown, bridge, or denture component.

The implant surgery is done in the dental chair under local anaesthetic so you will experience no pain during the procedure. Most of our patients tell us that they much prefer it to an extraction!

The appointment will last around 1 hour 15 minutes.

Step 4

Aftercare / review

You will be provided with a detailed post-op care package, and we are always available if you have any concerns. You will receive a follow up call the next day. If you have any problems before your next appointment, please let us know.

Once the treatment is complete, you will have a review in 12 months’ time, or before if required.

Dental Implant FAQ’s

How much do Dental Implants Cost?

The cost of implants will vary depending on the situation clinically, whether the treatment is considered straight forward or complex. Typically, the cost of a single dental implant is £3000 but it depends on how many implants we are placing and the restorative option that is chosen, e.g., a crown, bridge, or denture.

Our goal is for our patients to have confidence in the care we provide. Our prices reflect that of seeing a Specialist with his extensive knowledge and expertise in the field. We believe it is an investment that will improve quality of life and function which far outweighs the cost long term.

To help you with your considerations, here is a basic idea of costs:

Single dental implant + crown – £3000

Implant retained 3-unit bridge (2 implants + extra tooth) – £7000

Implant retained denture – £2500 per arch + £3000 per implant required

These options are to give an idea of costs, individual costs will be explained depending on your own treatment plan.

Is there a Finance Option Available?

We offer 0% finance over 10 months. The cost of implants is naturally broken down into amounts over the course of the treatment due to healing periods and different stages, which will be explained in full at consultation.

How long do Dental Implants take?

Usually, the process can take anywhere between 10 – 20 weeks, depending on complexity and whether extractions are required. An accurate time frame can be given once the consultation has taken place.
